Background: Luigi @ the Mario Wiki
Personality:
Most people's first impression of Luigi is that he's a gentle, timid and shy man. Socially awkward, insecure and unsure of himself, Luigi can, at times, come across as somewhat childish, especially since he's easily prone to tears. Shyness aside, he's a very kind and friendly man, and has a big heart.
Luigi is also cowardly, cowardly to the point that it almost seems like he's afraid of his own shadow. While that is, perhaps, an unfair exaggeration, Luigi is scared of many, many things, and, if he had his way, he'd stay safe at home, away from having to confront the things that scare him the most.
However, beneath his timid, cowardly exterior, lies a heroic spirit. Luigi might be scared out of his wits half the time, but if his family or friends are in danger, he'll stick up for them and stop at nothing to save them, in spite of his cowardice. So, while Luigi might not be fearless, by showing that he can push past those fears, that he can stand up to what's scaring him and act in spite of those fears proves that, when it counts the most, Luigi proves that he's capable of incredibly bravery.
A lot of Luigi's insecurities and issues seem to stem from the fact that he has Mario for a twin brother. Luigi often feels like Mario is everything he's not, that he could never measure up. Bold and outgoing while he's timid and shy, outwardly brave and heroic when he's cowardly and reluctant.
But most of all, Mario has recognition. Everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom knows who Mario is, and knows of Mario's accomplishments! And he's even famous outside the kingdom's borders. Luigi's lucky if someone in the kingdom even remembers his name, let alone if someone gives him credit alongside his brother for their joint accomplishments.
Knowing all that, is it any surprise that Luigi feels like he's stuck in his older brother's shadow? That he's a little envious of it all?
But does that mean he has a bad relationship with Mario? That there's any bad blood between them? No, not at all. Luigi would probably be horrified by the mere suggestion that there's any negative feelings towards his brother at all. Whatever envy Luigi may feel is usually beaten out by his love for and loyalty to his brother. He wants to help Mario, to be useful in their adventures. He wants to protect Mario as much as Mario protects him.
Overall, while Luigi may be timid and cautious, he's not one to be underestimated, there's a reason the heroes are called the Super Mario Brothers after all.
Abilities: Luigi might not look the part, but he possesses superhuman abilities beyond that of your average man.
Most notably, Luigi is capable of jumping several times his own height. He uses this ability offensively and defensibly, leaping on top of enemies as an attack, and leaping out of the way of oncoming attacks. He's also superhumanly strong and agile, capable of Olympic level gymnastic feats and able to lift things several times his own weight effortlessly.
That said, his abilities are somewhat hampered by an overall clumsiness and lack of coordination. He may be able to jump higher than his brother, for example, but he has difficulties sticking the landing.
Luigi can also harness various power ups and items found around the Mushroom Kingdom to gain temporary abilities, such as being able to throw fireballs, or fly. He won't have any power ups on him, though he may eventually get some with regains.
While Luigi usually fights barehanded, he's not against using a weapon when need be. When that's the case, his weapon of choice is a large sledgehammer. When fighting with that weapon, Luigi does more than simply whack enemies over the head with it. He can use the sledgehammer to block enemies attack, volleying them away.
There's also the Poltergust, while not really a weapon, per se, Luigi's skilled at using it to trap ghosts.
Beyond all that, Luigi is also quite athletic and excels in many sports, such as tennis and golf.
Alignment: Thras. People often say that true bravery isn't simply being fearless, it's standing up and taking action in spite of those fears. Luigi very much embodies this statement.
Other: He'll be bringing the Poltergust 5000 with him.
